The 2016 African Property Awards categories unveiled

The Real Estate Industry in Africa is taking a complete different twist with unbelievable projects springing up on the continent. Africa has turned the tides around with projects dotted around various part of the continent.

From big projects in Morocco through unprecedented projects in Kenya to giant developments in South Africa with modern and green projects in Ghana and Nigeria will meet head to head at London Landmark Hotel to showcase their projects to potential investors.

Property Express Group, the organizers have hinted the "head to head" presentation will infuse innovation and dynamism in the real estate and construction industry in Africa.

STREAM A – RESIDENTIAL

Best Residential Developer - Luxury Homes

This Category refers to majestic breath-taking homes priced one million dollars ($1,000,000) and above. The successful property must be of extraordinary architectural design, aesthetically pleasing, and finely-crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

Features of the house must include alarm system, air conditioning, swimming pool, designated parking / garage for multiple cars, at least one master suite, a fireplace and a cinema room.

 

 

Best Residential Developer - Middle Income Homes

This Category refers to properties priced between three hundred thousand dollars and eight hundred thousand dollars ($300,000 - $800,000) ideal for a family with a taste for the finer things in life. The property must have a wonderful immaculate feel, be an embodiment of comfort and elegance and must have at least three bedrooms. Its architecture must have imagination and flair with emphasis on wonderful family living.

Facilities must include designated parking / garage for multiple cars, and recreation area

 

Best Residential Developer – Mass & Social Housing

This category refers to integrated, affordable, low cost mass housing projects priced below fifty thousand dollars ($50,000). This must necessarily be a well-planned innovation-driven project to deliver hundreds and thousands of comfortable accommodation units at affordable prices.

 

 

STREAM B – COMMERCIAL

 

Best Commercial Developer – Retail & Business Park 2016

This category refers to designated enclaves housing business offices, light industries, retail and other commercial establishments. The enclave, in addition to providing the requisite infrastructural support, must properly landscaped, master-planned and designed to provide efficiency, flexibility and convenience to corporate tenants of any size and scope.

 

Best Commercial Developer – Offices & Business Development

This category refers to towering innovative, modern office complexes of great architectural splendour home to several renowned businesses and brands, or being occupied by a single multi/international business. The development must be a showcase of ultra-modernity and crafted with attention to detail, creating a breath-taking exterior and an interior space optimised for business. Facilities must include a parkade and broadband infrastructure.

 

Best Commercial Developer – Mixed Use Facility

This category refers to facilities designed for multiple uses in terms of retail, office, residential and leisure. The facility must be well – integrated and planned to optimise convenience for its users in terms of work, shop, play and residence; and must be a driver of business and commerce by virtue of its functional and physical residential-commercial integration.

 

 


STREAM   C – OTHER CATEGORIES

Best Recycle Project 2016   

This category refers to both: plants set up to recycle waste materials for productive purposes, or innovative developments/facilities made from recycled materials. The project must bring environmental and social transformation by way of its demonstrable impact on the environment and in the lives of the people in community as a source of livelihood, etc.

 

Best Railway Design Project 2016

This category refers to the best designed modern railway project. The project must offer state of the art public transport, excellent commuter experience and passenger/cargo flows, optimum community integration, multiple employment opportunities and enhanced connections and linkages between urban and remote centres to boost the country’s GDP.

 

Best Solar Design Project 2016

This category refers to well-designed plants providing credible and reliable alternate power. The Project must be a utility-scale ultra-modern enterprise with efficient computer-controlled photovoltaic panels providing electricity to at least a hundred homes, and must have led to the creation of hundreds of jobs.

 

Best Airport Construction Project 2016

This Category refers to both new construction and expansion/modernization of existing airports. This must be an ambitious, ultra-modern project with architecturally magnificent terminals and other vital infrastructure, a commercial/retail hub, business lounge, etc., and must meet international-level security and safety standards and related regulations.

 

Best Property Management Team of the year 2016

This category refers to Companies managing the lease, rentals, sales, maintenance, and utilities management of properties on behalf of ownership. The Firm must have a proven track record of creating value for its clients, and must necessarily have a diverse clientele list on its portfolio – estates, commercial complexes, retail outlets, etc. As proof of its client – responsiveness and satisfaction, the Team must show an ever increasing clientele base.

 


STREAM D - BIG PROJECTS

Best Urban Re-generation  – Big Projects 2016

This category refers to a large scale transformation of a declining urban area, township, community, etc., to a vibrant economic, commercial and residential hub, through the construction/renovation/expansion of infrastructural facilities, establishment of new / resuscitation of dwindling industries and other sources of employment, expansion of residential facilities, etc.

 

Best Infrastructure – Big Project 2016

This category refers to a large scale infrastructure project worth at least a billion dollars which must have created thousands of jobs in its development/construction, brought social and economic transformation to the situated environment/community, and be a key driver of growth.

 

 

Best Rural Electrification Project – Big Project 2016

This category refers to large scale rural electrification project based on renewable sources of energy. The project must supply electricity to at least 1,000 houses.
