Samuel Amegayibor, Executive Director and Managing Director of Homes Direct Limited, advised prospective homeowners that they should consult an architect when they come up with the idea of ??building a house.

 

"Since he's going to have a session with you, share your dreams with him,when you consult an architect, you get a professional analysis of the built environment, which reflects all the different factors of an expert,” he added.

 

Mr. Amegayibor said experts can determine if an area is flooded by looking for vegetation, water stains and erosion in the area.

 

Speaking on an Accra based TV station,he explained that the work of an architect is different from that of a draftsman. In his opinion, the relationship between an architect and a draftsman is similar to that between a doctor and a nurse, but their work is different, and he called on the public not to confuse the two.

 

He stated that there are two main stages in construction.Pre- and post-construction services.

 

He said the pre-construction process is very important, among other things, as there is a lot of debate about design and ideal building materials.

 

The Executive Director of GREDA encouraged the public to seek advice from experts in the built environment before purchasing to address any technical challenges that may arise.

 

He explained that hiring a professional is always cost-effective and that all contractual agreements must be properly drafted. He stressed that permits must be obtained before construction can begin.
