CAPTION - The national U-15 Badminton team.
The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) has selected a six-memeber team for the African U-15 Youth Championships to be staged in Egypt on April 3.
The team comprising three boys and three girls were chosen after a justifier at last Saturday's National Badminton Championships held at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Badminton Court.
The two-day competition saw Jennifer Abbity, Alberta Appiah and Patricia Frempong book their places they finished with 8,7 and 4 points respectively in the Girl's U-15.
The Boy's U-15 team will consist of top-seed Godwin Tetteh who beat Benjamin Botwe to first place with an 11-9, 8-11, 1-11, 11-7 and 11-8 while Ebenezer Appiah grabbed the slot with a victory over Christopher Banie.
Other games at the National Championship saw Grace Atipaka beat Eunice Arthur 11-2, 9-11, 11-2, 11-7 to claim the WOmen's U-19 and Diana Archer defeated Stella Amasah 10-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 and 11-10 to win the Senior's crown.
Olympic Games 2016 scholarship recipient, Daniel Sam defeated Michael Sam 11-5, 11-10 and 11-7 to claim the Senior's crown while Emmanuel Botwe won the U-19 title with an 11-8, 11-8, 6-11, 11-5 victory over George Ayitey.
According to Ishmael Africanus, an executive member of the BAG, his outfit was making efforts to secure passports for the youngsters ahead of their trip to Cairo.
He said: "We do not have all the funds for the trip but our main issue has to do with securing passports for the team."
