Over 150 badminton players are expected to compete for six national team places at the national U-15 Championships at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Badminton Court at Tema on Friday.
The selected players are expected to form the nucleus of the national U-15 team for the African U-15 Youth Championships in Cairo Egypt on 3 April.
According to the President of the Ghana Badminton Association (BAG), Nestor Ghalley, hundreds of players are expected to compete in the two-day event which also serves as a justifier for the African U-15 Championships.
“We are ready for the African Championships. We will pick the best three among the boys and girls as well as three officials for the Egypt trip,” he stated.
He was grateful to GOIL and Promasidor Ghana Limited for sponsoring the competition.
Many of the youngsters will be looking forward to emulate the achievements by the likes of Daniel Sam (inset) who was recently awarded a Rio 2016 Scholarship by the Ghana Olympic Committee.
